Hang Out a Little Inspiration

I often find it helpful to hang up some clothing that I am looking forward to wearing, especially during this time of year. When winter seems like it has been too long, the days are often gray and still very chilly and  we’ve all been conveniently tucked away in big fluffy layers of warmth.  Don’t get me wrong, I love winter garb, like most girls- a great pair of jeans, a classy sweater, boots and maybe even a fantastic scarf and winter hat! That is all fantastic and most of us enjoy a change of scenery in our wardrobe with each season.

But when I find myself at the end of the winter high and ebbing into winter blues, I like to remind myself that change IS always just around the corner.  Its great for a mental boost and it is when I reevaluate some of my goals for the things I want to do and accomplish in the upcoming warmer months.  Of course, one of those is, “Am I happy with where I’m at with my body?”  Normally we all have a few pounds we’ve allowed to creep on, that we wish we hadn’t (totally normal and very natural - bodies change with seasons just like the landscape and our closet and that is good) or maybe we just remember that we wanted to get a little more muscle, a little more toned before the summer.

I find hardly anything more inspiring or exciting than looking in my closet and picking out an outfit or two - something strappy or short, a little skin revealing perhaps, So, go ahead, pick some of your favorites that you’ve been looking forward to wearing this spring and summer, hang them on your door, and visualize yourself in them - how you want to look, how you want to feel when you’re in them.

Note:  I included a snug sweater dress to help remind me that even when I’m dressing for cold, shape can still matter and inspire us to stay on track.  I’m not suggesting a certain size or shape here - all shapes and sizes are beautiful.  This is simply a reminder that we want to be aiming towards always (or more often than not) feeling good about ourselves and that we can dress in the way we desire and that makes us feel how we want to feel!  Whether that’s sexy, confident, cute, strong, powerful or comfortable in our skin.

It may be the bathing suit you bought at the end of last season and never wore, or the favorite sundress that makes you smile every spring when you get to pull it out of hiding, or the new, super cute coordinating workout clothes you bought for fun.  OR clothes may not be your inspiration at all! It may be scenes of a beach, or a camping trip or a cruise or family vacation somewhere new.  Whatever it is that inspires you to remember your goals  for your body, your health and your positive state of mind - I encourage you to drag them out and hang them up!
